Coventry stands on the threshold of major regeneration, designed to make it a more attractive place in which to live, study, work and invest. And the way the city is perceived will be a key factor in determining its future success.
Coventry's Image Working Group was launched in October 1997 by the city's new events and tourism agency, Coventry and Warwickshire Promotions.
We are proud to present Be !nventive - Coventry, City of Invention. This new proposition for the city is a great tribute to Coventry's fantastic 1,000 year heritage of invention and to the promising industries which can be found in our city today.
The group was launched in 1997 to act as an information exchange among its membership and work on projects to address Coventry's perceived poor image.
In 2007, with major city centre regeneration in prospect, the group began to consider a campaign for Coventry to run alongside dramatic physical change.
As a first step, the group commissioned research to understand current perceptions of the city among local people. From there, further consultation with stakeholders was used to define the city's new proposition.
